CHRISTOPHER HODDINOTT
Educator |
Designing my work on a foundation of integrity, I am the Secondary School Principal at the Canadian International School of Kunshan within an underlying mission to drive new levels of academic success. As an educator driven by passion, I have an extensive 10+ year background across the teaching, supervision, project leadership, and international school administration spaces, and possess both the perseverance and grit necessary to ensure my students reach their highest-performing potential.
Originally from England and born with a rooted appreciation for learning, I have built a large inventory of career accomplishments that have led to my current endorsed standing at XCL World Academy. To date, I am located in Singapore and hold several degrees, including an MEd in Educational Leadership, an MRes in Music Composition, and BA in Creative Music. I am also specialized in IB MYP, DP and IGCSE along with the intricacies of music composition and music technology, all of which I have utilized throughout my professional career to help accentuate the school environment for both staff and students. Over the last decade, I have taught 500+ students throughout England, Brunei, Vietnam, and Singapore and supported numerous other industry roles, including (but not limited to) an IB examiner, staff/student workshop coordinator, CIS school accreditation committee member, and a project manager who developed the Extended Essay program, the Reflective Project, and the Personal Project. I am an Apple Certified Teacher and accredited for authoring journal articles on inclusion, diversity in education, improving feedback with students and the design of the classroom. Overall, my project management, teaching and curriculum management efforts have not gone unnoticed, as I have received several recognitions, such as the 'Champion Teacher' by Musical Futures International for the design and implementation of an immersive skill development music program. Being a music educator with strong humanistic values, nothing makes me happier than delivering impactful learning approaches that influence sustainable academic growth, develop positive culture transformations, and spearhead student learning objectives. Overall, I have a genuine love for improving learning outcomes for students and demonstrate that through my innovative learning modeling dedications that enable young minds to gain the stepstones they deserve to excel. This, in conjunction with my motivating energy and reputation for creating strong systems/structures that provoked long-term progression, is what shaped me into the forward-thinking educator I am today - one who continuously strives to raise the standards bar for my students, our community, and the education sector as a whole. Overall, I love what I do and am always seeking ways to advance myself both personally and professionally to give my students the fundamental support they deserve. However, when I am not working, you can often find me playing music (guitar and piano), enjoying sports like football and cycling, playing competitive chess, traveling, supporting various charities, and above all, spending time with my wife who is a Mandarin teacher and our son. |
